Port Blair, Sept. 3: The State Child Protection Society under the Directorate of Social Welfare organized an impactful awareness program at Seva Niketan, Dairy Farm, Child Care Institution (CCl). This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to educate children on their legal rights and responsibilities.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), spearheaded the program to educate children at the Child Care Institution on their rights, responsibilities, and hygiene. His initiative aimed to provide the children with essential knowledge for a better future by focusing on both legal education and practical hygiene practices.
The program focused on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Child Rights, aiming to empower children with essential knowledge. The Program Manager, Smti Rehaneth Begum led the session, engaging the children in interactive activities to explain key aspects of the POCSO Act.
The POCSO Act is designed to protect children under 18 from sexual abuse or exploitation. During the session, the children learned about Unsafe touch, Importance of saying 'no', telling a trusted Adult, Keeping Secrets is Not Okay. The session highlighted legal awareness, focusing on children's rights and safety. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A. Shri Biswajeet, Office Superintendent of Seva Niketan, thanked the State Child Protection Society and stressed the importance of ongoing educational efforts.
