Car Nicobar, Sept. 6: Teachers’ Day was celebrated at Priyadarshini Auditorium, Car Nicobar with great zeal and enthusiasm yesterday. The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, graced the occasion as the chief guest while the Secretary Tribal Council, Shri Martin Luther was the guest of honour. The event was attended by various Heads of Departments (HoDs), Retired Principals, Headmasters /Headmistress teachers & other staff of the Education Department of Car Nicobar.
In her address, the Deputy Commissioner, appreciated the teachers for their tireless efforts in nurturing young minds and shaping the future of the nation. She emphasized the importance of education in empowering communities and fostering social harmony.
Earlier, the Education Officer, Shri H Nathaniel welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Teachers' Day and the pivotal role played by teachers in shaping the future of society.
This was followed by a felicitation ceremony for the teachers who achieved 100% result in their respective subjects, a commendable achievement reflecting their dedication and commitment to excellence in education. The celebration also featured a vibrant prize distribution ceremony, for the teachers who excelled in various competitions held over the past few weeks. The competitions included Badminton Doubles & Single ( Men’s & Women’s), Tug of war( Men’s & Women’s) ,Spell Bee Competition, Handwriting ,Group Dance/Song and Solo Song.
A cultural program added a lively and colourful touch to the celebration, with teachers performing dances and songs, enthralling the gathering. The Vice Principal of GSSS Malacca, Smt. Everlyn spoke on the life and contributions of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri Swapan Paik, Vice Principal, GSSS Sawai.
