DEO Urges School Management Committee Members to Play Active Role

Diglipur, Sept. 6: An Environment building Programme for the members of the School Management committees of the different Schools of Diglipur Educational zone, under “Samagra Shiksha” was held today at the Conference Hall of the Block Project Office Diglipur. With the aim to make the SMC members aware of the different interventions and facilities being given to the Children with special Needs in schools, the resource persons of the Block Project Office explained elaborately on the different aspects.

Inaugurating the day long awareness Programme in the morning, the Deputy Education Officer Smti Sulochana informed the gathering that various welfare schemes are in effect for the Students with special Needs, assisting them to get involved in learning process in Schools in conducive, inclusive environment.  Expressing concern, that many parents are not aware of the interventions, offering incentives and facilities under Samagra Shiksha, She called upon the members of the School Management Committees to disseminate this information to the Parents of these Children, being close to them as they live in the same locality. She said that with the active cooperation and involvement of the SMC members, a better inclusive and supportive environment for the Children with special Needs can be developed in the schools.

In her augural session, while stressing upon the need of early identification of disability of a child, in her key note address the Resource Person S. Vijaya informed that a Health Assessment Camp is going to be conducted soon at Diglipur. She urged the School committee members to inform this to the families of their localities.

Resource Person N. Riya Nandan explained about the various facilities, being offered to CwSN students under “Samagra Shiksha” Interventions apart from the monthly stipend and learning materials. Informing about the Block level resource Room established at GSSS Diglipur, the resource person Rakhi Kabiraj said the Centre has come into existence last year, aiming to pay special care to extra ordinary cases. She urged the Parents to bring their children from 8.30 AM to 5 PM to the Centre. The condition of the children is observed and referred for the specialized medical care if required.

Responding to the queries of the Parents, the Examination Incharge of the Diglipur School Shri Shubhendu Halder said there is provision of allowing Scribes along with other facilities by the Central Board of Secondary Education, if the Parents ask for it through the Exam Cell of the respective Schools.

Resource Persons CH Rama Krishna, Pushpa Lata and Biswajit Das enlightened the audience about the crucial aspects related to the Inclusive Education in School, in the different sessions.

Around 52 SMC members and PRI Members attended this Environment building Programme.
