Port Blair, Sept. 11: The Block Project Office, Wimberlygunj organized a Medical Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) students at GSSS Wimberlygunj on Sept. 6, 2024. Dr. Manoharan, Deputy Education Officer of Wimberlygunj who was the chief guest spoke on the significance of Medical Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs.
The chief guest along with the medical team distributed Aid and Appliances to the CwSN students. The entire programme was conducted with the support of State Project Office, Samagra Shiksha.
The special guests were Shri V Raju, Assistant Project Officer, Shri Sakthi Kumar, Special Educator, Samagra Shiksha. Shri Santosh Mondal, Special Educator was the external observer while Shri Srinivas Rao (PST) was an internal observer. Shri Sudeep Kumar Jena (Prosthestist & Orthotist and Shri Alok Kumar Sahu (Audiologist) from Kolkata, ALIMCO, Dr. Geeta, Senior Resident, Paediatrics, PHC Wimberlygunj were present during the camp. During the camp, hearing aids were distributed to 3 beneficiaries, wheel chair to 2 beneficiaries, CP wheel chair to 1 beneficiary and ankle-foot orthoses shoes to 7 beneficiaries.
Earlier, the Programme Coordinator, Ms Sangeeta Kumari, Special Educator welcomed the gathering. The medical team also assessed the CwSN and suspected children. A good number of CwSNs, along with parents under DEO, Wimberlygunj Zone, and BRP (CwSN), SET, PSRTs, and BRPs participated in this programme.
