Port Blair, Sept. 13: Airports Authority of India has initiated plantation drive on the bank Amrit Sarovar at Beodnabad village an initiative by of Ministry of Civil Aviation ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ as per the resolution of 2nd Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference (APAC-MC) on Civil Aviation.
Airports Authority of India has planted around 80,000 saplings across the nation to commemorate the 80 years of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). Airport Director Sh Devender Yadav along with Director DGCA Dr Jitender Lohra, Assistant Director Santosh Kumar, Captain Sumantha Das, Pardhan of Beodnabad village Sh R. Parmasaivam, Forest officials, MNGREGA Staff, Block officials, all gram panchayat staff, PRI members of Beodnabad village, SHO and other officials of Airports Authority of India has participated in plantation derive.
Airport Director said, “Every tree makes a difference in creating a greener, healthier planet. Protection and care of saplings is also very important to ensure that every sapling that we planted should grow to a big tree. Airports Authority of India will protect and maintain the planted saplings for three years”.
