Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: The A&N Traffic Police will be launching a special drive to enforce the mandatory helmet rule under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019. As per the Act, wearing helmets is mandatory for children above the age of 4 years while travelling on two-wheelers. This drive aims to ensure road safety and reduce traffic violations related to helmet use.

Failure to wear a helmet significantly increases the risk of head injuries in the event of an accident leading to long-term disabilities and in severe cases, fatalities. Statistics show that head injuries are one of the leading causes of fatalities in road accidents, which can often be prevented by wearing helmets. The A&N Traffic Police urges all motorists to comply with this regulation for their own safety and to avoid penalties.
