Rangat, Oct. 22: A Block-level training program focusing on prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drugs, harmful alcohol consumption, and tobacco use, was organized on Oct. 19 by the CD Block Rangat at the Panchayat Samiti Hall, Rangat under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) and the Directorate of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj Institutions & Urban Local Bodies (RD, PRIs & ULBs).

Shri Pradeep Kumar Singh, Block Development Officer (BDO), inaugurated the event, stressing on the importance of collaborative efforts to combat the growing menace of substance abuse in the community.

The training was enriched by key resource persons including Shri Abdul Sajid, Sub-Inspector, who delivered an insightful presentation on the dangers of substance abuse.

Another expert, Smti Harpeet Kaur, Community Health Officer (CHO), provided a comprehensive presentation on substance abuse prevention strategies and treatment options available for those affected.

Shri Sujit Mistry, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Nimbutala, shared his valuable experiences in combating substance abuse within his village.    The training saw active participation from Pradhans, Panchayat Secretaries, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), who shared their knowledge and personal experiences. Their contributions inspired others to take decisive actions in their respective areas to address the issue of substance abuse.

In his closing remarks, the BDO urged the Pradhans and officials to continue creating awareness in their villages to save the youth from the harmful effects of substance abuse.
