Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 22: The State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under Directorate of Social Welfare organized an Adoption Awareness Program on Oct. 19, 2024 at Anganwadi Centre, Mariyamman Temple, Austinabad engaging Anganwadi Workers and women from the community.

Shri G. Koteshwar Rao, Programme Manager of State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding about adoptions and dwelt on providing accurate information which helps dispel misconceptions and encourages a more positive outlook on adoption. Smti Sulata Samaddar, Incharge, Balika Niketan, Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), explained about functioning of SAA in facilitating the adoption process and providing ongoing guidance and support. Smti T. Dharmila, Programme Officer of State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) discussed the legal procedures and requirements associated with adoption, ensuring potential adoptive parents understand the legal framework involved.

Additionally, the Anganwadi workers and general public were suggested to report about children for adoption, if found in their community and to send them to the Directorate of Social Welfare, Room No. 308.
