Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 22: A Veterinary Health and Infertility Camp was organized by Veterinary Dispensary, Manglutan, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, A&N Administration in collaboration with ICAR, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Sri Vijaya Puram at Indira Nagar under Humfrygunj Gram Panchayat on Oct.19, 2024.
The camp was organised with the objective of identifying the problems related to infertility among cattle due to which farmers face economic losses. During the health camp, 11 cows with the complaint of infertility were examined. After identifying the cause of infertility, necessary treatment and advice was provided to treat the animals. Apart from physical examination of animals, more than 20 farmers who attended the camp were given medicines and technical advice for proper rearing of cattle.
The Department will be organising similar camps in all the Milk producing areas of this UT to identify and treat the infertile cattle. This along with implementation of the scheme for assured female calf using Sex Sorted Semen will help increase the number of milk producing animals in the coming years.
The camp was attended by Dr. K. A. Naveen, Director, DAH&VS, Dr. Perumal P, Senior Scientist from ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram, Dr. Parag Deori, Senior Veterinary Officer and staff of Veterinary Dispensary, Manglutan.
