Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 1: It is a proud moment for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as young chess talent Rohan Singh has opened his international chess rating in the Classical Format as per the latest rating list released by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) yesterday. Rohan, a promising chess player & Class V student of Carmel Senior Secondary School, Port Blair, has earned a FIDE rating of 1455, marking a significant milestone in his chess journey.
Rohan achieved this feat during the prestigious BHARATIYA NAVEENA KREEDA UTSAV (BNKU) 1st International Chess Festival 2024, held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, from 22nd to 27th October 2024. Displaying remarkable skill and composure, he secured two wins and a draw against rated opponents, which enabled him to enter the international chess rating list.
With this accomplishment, Rohan has achieved ratings in all three formats viz. Classical, Rapid, and Blitz, marking a proud moment for the A&N Islands' chess community and inspiring young players across the Islands with his dedication and hard work.
