Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 7: The Carmel Sr. Sec. School, Sri Vijaya Puram today organised a three-day Sahodaya Inter School Football Knock-out Tournament at Nirmala School Ground. Shri Suparn Sreedharan graced the occasion as the chief guest.
In his address on the occasion, Shri Suparn said, “It’s amazing to see thirteen schools taking part in the tournament, truly representing the word Sahodaya, which means rising together, promoting synergies of excellence in all fields of education”.
He congratulated the Principal and team of Carmel SSS for organising the tournament. Football, he said is one of the most popular games in the world. This game unites nations, connects hearts and erases the high and low barriers. It also teaches us discipline and time management apart from keeping us healthy both mentally and physically. He concluded his address by wishing the best to all the participating teams.
Earlier, Sr. Diana gave the welcome address. Shawls were presented to welcome the guest of honours viz. Fr. Mahipal Balmuch, Parish Priest, Stella Maris Cathedral, Fr. Arun Kumar Tirkey, Manager Nirmala SSS, Ms. Sarabjit Jugpal. Secretary SAHODAYA, Mrs. G. Leela, Principal Nirmala SSS and Mr. Manohar Lal, President Carmel Alumni.
The entire tournament is being sponsored by Shri Sunil Sreedharan, veteran footballer of the Islands and an Alumnus of Carmel School.
The participating teams include Nirmala, UPS, IQRA, St. Mary, VKV Lamba Line, VKV Port Mout, Carmel, Sagaritara, VKV Ranchi Basti, NCS, Kamraj and KPS. The tournament is for both girls and boys. The final match will be played on 9th Nov. 2024.
