Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 10: Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre is organizing a compulsory Training Course on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity of Island Ecosystem for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officers during 11th – 15th November 2024. The training is sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. 

This training course will be attended by 21 senior level Indian Forest Officers (IFS) from various States & Union Territory (AGMUT, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Panjab, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Haryana). The five days training course includes class rooms teaching; field visit and training to Swaraj Dweep (Rani Jhansi Marine National Park), Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Wandoor; Baratang (Mangrove ecosystem & lime stone cave), Chidiyatappu Biological Park, besides hands on training on the intertidal marine biodiversity at Bumanella, South Andaman. 

The five-day training course will be inaugurated by Shri. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS as Chief Guest; besides Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, Director, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata, Shri. M.S. Negi, IFS (Retd.), former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forests Force, Arunachal Pradesh and Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Islands; Shri. Hari Shankar Upadhyay, IFS, Former Principal Chief Conservator Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden, Odisha will be a Special Guests.  The programme will be held in TSG Emerald View, Phoenix Bay.
