Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 18: In line with its unwavering commitment to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station alongwith Dog Squad, CID successfully arrested 2 drug peddlers and seized total 4.040 kg of illicit ganja on 15th November 2024 at VSI Airport, Sri Vijayapuram.

Acting on specific intelligence, a dedicated team led by Inspector Pritam Behari, SHO Anti-Narcotics Police Station alongwith police team comprising of SI Mohd Rahil Islam, ASI Sanjay Yadow, Constables Ratan Das, Vishal Kumar,  Nanak Singh, M. Raja Rao, Nandita Mistry alongwith PC Santosh Kr. Yadav with Narcotics dog "Kasper” intercepted one  person namely Akash Biswas S/o Shri Raju Biswas (22) Yrs R/o Haddo, Lillypur, who arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram from Kolkata on November 15, 2024, by Air Akasa flight and seized a total of 4.040 kg of Ganja,  concealed in his luggage.

During investigation, financial trail was ascertained, which led to the arrest of co-accused S. Poowathi Raja (30), S/o Shri N. Subbaiah, R/o Sunder Colony, Haddo, who financed accused Akash Biswas for purchasing Ganja from west Bengal with equal share. Both accused persons have been sent to judicial remand for 14 days.

The entire raid was supervised by Shri. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat under the overall supervision of Shri Mohd Irshad Haider, IPS, SP (CID), A&N Islands.

A case under relevant section of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered at Anti-Narcotics Police Station and further investigation of the case is under progress.
