Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 20: Under the National TB Elimination Programme, A&N Islands, a Medical team headed by Dr. Anwar Moosa, District TB Officer, DTC, Nicobar District/CMO-BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar conducted awareness programmes on prevention and control of Tuberculosis at GSS School, Sawai yesterday and at GSS School, Big Lapathy yesterday. Around 200 students attended the programme.

Dr. Deepika Sharma, MO, BJRH, delivered the welcome address at both programs. Additionally, a multimedia presentation on Tuberculosis (TB) was given by Ms. Ansavi, TBHV, in both the sessions.

Thereafter, Dr. Anwar Moosa provided an essential overview of TB control methods, stressing the importance of early detection, treatment adherence and community awareness. He emphasized reducing stigma and encouraged sharing information about TB symptoms, transmission, and treatment to create a supportive environment. He also discussed the incentive packages for TB patients and community volunteers, along with a personal experience shared by a TB champion about their diagnosis and treatment journey. He urged the students to spread awareness about TB prevention, precautions, and treatment within their families and communities. The session concluded with a well-received quiz competition followed by gifts and prizes for participation.
