Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 21: The Red Ribbon Club of Jawaharlal Nerhru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) organized an Orientation and Capacity Building programme on the theme ‘Saathi Haath Badhana’ on 21st November 2024 in the College Auditorium. More than 250 Students participated in the orientation programme. As a part of the programme an inter Departmental Cultural Dance Competition was also organised for the students.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. H. K. Sharma, Principal JNRM. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest appreciated the Red Ribbon Club for being active among the students for bringing awareness about the HIV –AIDS and making them aware of Healthy life style for their all-round Development.
Dr. Jahanara Yasmeen, Dy. Director (MS & IEC) Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS), was the Guest of Honour and main resource person for the orientation programme. She spoke on the objectives of RRC and its roles and responsibilities in prevention and control of STI, HIV & AIDS including its transmission, prevention, and treatment.
Earlier the Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club JNRM Dr. Kandimuthu addressed the students on the importance of having an active participation in the social responsibilities as a responsible citizens and being aware of HIV – AIDS.
In the Cultural Dance Competition, a total of seven teams participated in which the First Second and Third places were secured by V. Sneha & group of BA. Economics, Poonam Devi & group of B.Sc. Botany and Rajeshwari & Group of B.A. Tamil Departments respectively. They were awarded with Cash Prizes.
The Cultural Dance Programme was coordinated by Dr. Ratna Kushwah, NSS Programme Officer & Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi and Dr. Deepali Kujur and Ms. Beena Bain, Guest Faculty were the Judges for the Dance Competition.
Dr. Ratan Majumder, Associate Professor Geography also spoke on the concluding session and distributed the cash prizes to the winners of the competition.
Earlier Dr. Satya Prakash, Assistant Professor Geography delivered the welcome speech. The programme concluded with the Vote of thanks Proposed by Smt. Shibani Rajbhushan, NSS Programme Officer & Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi. The Entire Programme was Coordinated by Kunal Bain of BA. Hindi Final Year.
