Swaraj Dweep, Nov. 21: As per the communication received from the Divisional Forest Officer, Swaraj Dweep, a team of Forest Officials comprising of Shri S. Satish, Deputy Ranger, Shri Dhanaroopan, Forester, Shri Eswar Hemraon, Forester, Shri Amitava Hawalader, Forest Guard, Shri Aneeth Anand Raj, Forest Guard, Shri Adom, Forest Guard and workers carried out patrolling in John Lawrence Islands attached to Rani Jhansi Marine National Park on 14th November 2024 whereby the team detected 239 pieces of illegally hand sawn timber (Hardwood) measuring 4.012 Cu Mts. stacked in the interior jungle on the North Eastern side of the said Island.
The said team of Forest Officials on routine patrolling duty on 18th November, 2024 detected 35 pieces of illegally collected hand sawn timber (hardwood) measuring 1.034 Cu Mts. from the interior part of John Lawrence Island under Rani Jhansi Marine National Park. The hand sawn timber illegally collected has been brought to the Divisional Head Quarters and kept under safe custody and as the offenders couldn’t be detected investigation is on to nab the culprit.
