Nancowry, Nov. 25: A Legal Awareness Campaign was organized by the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry in association with the A&N State Legal Service Authority A&N Administration on Nov. 23 & 24 under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan at Nancowry. Shri Bhawani Shanker Sharma, Registrar-cum-Member Secretary, A&N State Legal Service Authority interacted with the Head of Office, Tribal leaders, Police Personnel, Health Workers at EOC Conference Hall, Kamorta on Nov. 23. During the interaction, he emphasised that the role of parents and teachers are more significant in educating children and young adults about the severe consequence of using drugs and how to prevent sexual abuse.
On Nov. 24, addressing the gathering at Indira Park Kamorta, Shri Ravinder Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry elaborated on the efforts to ensure safety of children from Sexual Offences and Drug Abuse. Shri Bhawani Shanker, Registrar-cum-Member Secretary, A&N State Legal Service Authority was invited as guest speaker for the legal awareness campaign. Addressing the gathering, Shri Bhawani Shanker delivered a valuable speech on POCSO Act-2012, Drug Abuse, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Rights of Victims. He also personally interacted with the school students and urged them not to indulge in such acts which hamper the educational career.
A drawing competition was also organized by the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry at the venue on the theme POCSO and Drug Abuse, in which, a large number of students from various schools participated.
