Sri Vijaya Puarm, Nov. 26: Islanders Social Movement in Awareness & Training (ISMAT), an all-women led NGO, celebrated International Children's Day by organizing a health camp for orphanages of our islands.

The event, held at the Islamic Guidance Centre (IGC) in Goalghar, Sri Vijayapuram, brought together children and staff of orphanages providing them with free health check-ups and consultations. The camp aimed to promote health awareness and provide medical assistance to underprivileged children.

A panel of esteemed doctors volunteered their expertise, including:

-Dr. M.A. Jawed, General Physician and Homeopath from Supply Line

-Dr. Prameet R. S., BDS, MDS from Apex Dental Center, Haddo

Dr. Seema Das, Consultant Ophthalmologist, MBBS, DNB, MRCS (UK) from Eyecon Clinic, Garacharma

The program began with a welcome address and introduction of ISMAT by ISMAT President-Dr. Shireen Jadwet. The health camp commenced at 10:30 am, with doctors conducting thorough check-ups and providing guidance on overall health and hygiene. After the check-ups, the doctors were presented with mementos and plant pots as a token of appreciation for their selfless service.

Following the health check-ups, the children participated in engaging games, which helped to create a joyful and lively atmosphere. The event culminated in a cordial lunch for all.

In a remarkable display of generosity, all the participating doctors offered to provide further treatment to the children free of cost, ensuring that they receive the necessary medical care.

ISMAT's efforts were appreciated by the orphanage staff and children, who expressed gratitude for the medical assistance and health awareness provided.

"We are committed to making a positive impact in our community, especially among vulnerable populations like children in orphanages and we are grateful to our team of doctors and volunteers who made this event possible," said Rasheeda Peer, General Secretary, ISMAT in her vote of thanks speech at the end of the program.
