Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 28: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has officially recognized December 3rd as "Agricultural Education Day" in honour of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Independent India. In celebration of this day, the ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) is hosting a variety of events aimed at motivating young individuals and the wider community to appreciate the importance of agriculture and its related sectors.

Scheduled activities for the day include a Speech Competition for students in grades 9 to 12, focusing on "The Role of Technology in Modern Agriculture," and a Painting Competition for students in grades 5 to 8, themed "Showcase the Charm and Beauty of Rural Landscapes and Farming Life." Both competitions will take place on 02nd December, 2024 from 10:00 AM to to 4:00 PM. Furthermore, an Open Day featuring a Technology Exposition and Demonstration will occur from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, welcoming students from grades 6 to 12, their educators, and the general public.

These initiatives are designed to cultivate interest in agriculture, underscore its significance in contemporary society, and motivate students to explore career opportunities in agriculture and related fields. Participants will have the chance to engage with cutting-edge agricultural technologies and gain insights into the realities of farming life.
