Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 29: To ensure that the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act and Rules framed there under are being compiled with by the motor vehicle drivers, an enforcement drive was conducted by the Transport Department today in Sri Vijaya Puram. Enforcement team led by Dr. Jatinder Sohal, Director of Transport checked the motor vehicles plying on the road which included commercial as well as personal vehicles. Intention of the enforcement was mainly to sensitize the motor vehicle drivers towards total compliance to the motor vehicle laws in true spirit.

Different types of violations were observed during the enforcement drive. The vehicle drivers/ riders were challaned and at the same time they were sensitized about the legal provisions related to Motor Vehicles laws. They were also briefed about the consequences on disobeying the provisions of motor vehicle laws and also on the aspects of road safety.

Common violations observed were driving without seat belt, driving without valid insurance, PUCC, driving Autorickshaws without putting on the fare meters, expired fitness & permit validity, riding without prescribed helmets, over speed etc.

All motor vehicle drivers and riders have been advised to follow the motor vehicle laws as these are crucial for personal safety and legal compliance. Such enforcement drives will continue and motor vehicle drivers / riders found violating the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act, Rules and Rules of Road Regulations will be penalized as per the law.
