Sri Vijayapuram, Dec. 2: The Chief Pay & Accounts Office (CPAO), Sri Vijayapuram, organized two significant events on 2nd December 2024, as part of its professional development initiatives and the lead-up to the 7th Andaman & Nicobar Civil Accounts Day on 7th December.

The day began with an engaging Quiz Competition, inaugurated by Shri S. Das Gupta, Director of Accounts & Budget, at 10:00 AM in the Conference Hall. The quiz, aimed at enhancing staff knowledge and fostering friendly competition, was open to all subordinate staff. It covered key topics such as CCS Rules, General Financial Rules (GFR), and the Civil Accounts Manual (CAM). The thoughtfully crafted questions tested participants' grasp of vital regulations that underpin organizational efficiency and compliance. With active participation across multiple rounds, the event highlighted the CPAO staff's dedication to upholding regulatory standards. Shri Y. Venkateswar Rao, LDC, secured the first position, Smti Rita Dhali, Senior Accountant, bagged the second position, and Smti V. K. Nishad Begum, LDC, clinched the third position.

In the afternoon, a workshop titled “Public Procurement: Challenges and Way Forward” commenced at 3:00 PM. During the inaugural session, Shri S. Das Gupta emphasized the significance of the workshop in addressing critical procurement challenges, particularly in the sectors of shipping, power, and APWD. He underscored CPAO's commitment to equipping its workforce with the necessary knowledge and tools to navigate evolving regulations and challenges, thereby fostering professional growth and teamwork.

The workshop featured insightful sessions led by senior officers of the Pay & Accounts Organization, including S/Shri B. Binu, Raji K. George, Russel Ross D., M. Mohammed Ashraf, K. Chintamani, and Evan Francis. Drawing from their extensive experience in procurement processes within their respective sectors, the speakers shared practical strategies to minimize audit objections, address vigilance observations, and implement best practices to enhance procurement efficiency. The interactive format encouraged dynamic discussions and the exchange of innovative ideas for overcoming real-world procurement challenges.

Earlier, Smti C. Sameera Thoufique, AAO, warmly welcomed the speakers and participants, setting a positive tone for the workshop. Smti R. Femina concluded the event with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks.

These events form part of a month-long celebration leading up to A&N Civil Accounts Day.
