Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 5: Sports Authority of India (SAI), STC Sri Vijay Puram women rowing team won Silver Medals in the event category 2000 metre of the 44th Junior and 7th Inter State Challenger National Rowing Championship held at Pune, Maharashtra today. The successful participants Ms. Sneha Toppo and Ms. P. Alagammal are residential trainees of SAI, Sri Vijaya Puram and are trained under the international medalist coaches, Arjuna Awardee Shri Jenil Krishnan, Shri Justin J. Thomas and Shri Manish Kr. Tiwari.

In the said competition, Himachal RFI team bagged gold medal, while A&N Islands defeated other bigger States like Maharashtra, Haryana, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala etc. The spectacular win also acted as qualifier for their participation in ‘National Games’ set to take place in Uttarakhand from January 2025. 

They both belong from humble family and are residents of Bimblitan and Mannarghat respectively. It was difficult for their family to meet both ends. As a survival strategy, they were admitted to SAI residential training. They have proved with hard work; all other obstacles can be crumbled. SAI team is elated with the win and hopes to win medals in forthcoming National Games’2025.
