Pahargaon Police Busts Sextortion Racket Involved in Crores of Extorted Funds

Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 4: In a major crackdown, Police Station Pahargaon successfully busted an illegal narcotics supply and sextortion criminal syndicate. The operation, based on reliable intelligence, led to the arrest of multiple individuals engaged in these illegal operations.

On January 6, 2025, a team led by Inspector Mohd. Elias, SHO PS Pahargaon, comprising of Sub-Inspector Manish Narayan and Police Constables Rahul Kumar Maurya, Shiv Kumar and Reena, intercepted two individuals Nazneen Khan (34) and Menka Singh (24) near a resort in Kamraj Nagar. A search of Menka Singh resulted in the seizure of approximately 1 gram of Methamphetamine. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police (South Andaman), and a case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Sub-Inspector Shivhare was assigned to investigate the matter further.

During the investigation, three additional suspects were apprehended: Dr. Javed Maricar (35), Shashank Puria (37), and Samrat (33), who were found to be involved in the illegal drug supply network. Technical analysis revealed a criminal conspiracy hatched by Nazneen Khan to extort a victim by using Menka Singh as bait, with plans to falsely implicate the victim in a fabricated drug case.

Investigation on these lines led to the uncovering of a major sextortion racket orchestrated by Dr. Javid Maricar and Nazneen Khan, targeting high-profile individuals across multiple regions, including Chhattisgarh and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The syndicate used to put victims in fear of accusation of criminal offenses including rape and molestation to extort money from them.

As a result of the investigation, Dr. Javid Maricar, Shashank Puria, Nazneen Khan and Menka Singh were arrested in accordance with due legal process on 31/01/25 and 01/02/25. During the larger course of investigation, it was revealed that the syndicate has been involved in an extortion racket of several individuals. Some of these individuals have fallen victim to them and have paid the syndicate substantial amounts of money which runs into crores in these extortion bids. The syndicate used to specifically target rich and socially influential people like businessmen, politicians etc so that they will not report it to the police and could be extorted easily.

The Andaman & Nicobar Police remains committed to combating organized crime and ensuring the safety and security of the public. The investigation in this matter is ongoing.

This entire operation was supervised by Shri Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO South Andaman.
