Car Nicobar, March 9: The ICDS (Tribal Project) Car Nicobar, in coordination with the District Administration, celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 and 10th Anniversary of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) under the theme ‘She Build Bharat’ emphasizing women’s role in nation building and progress. The event began with a Cycle Rally from Gandhi Statue Malacca to GMS Kinyuka, symbolizing strength and unity. The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Shri Amit Kale, IAS, flagged off the rally, emphasizing gender equality and empowerment.
At BJR Stadium, the celebration continued with cake-cutting ceremony and the DC Cup T10 Women’s Cricket Tournament, showcasing Women’s sportsmanship and talent.
The evening featured a stunning fireworks display lit up the sky and vibrant cultural programme leaving the audience in awe. A felicitation ceremony honoring women achievers and National Cycling Champions 2024 was held. As a tribute to BBBP’s 10th Anniversary, Volley Ball kits were distributed to 15 tribal village lady representatives of Car Nicobar promoting women participation in sports.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of empowering women across all sectors. “Women are the backbone of India’s development. From leading businesses to driving social change, they are building Bharat with resilience and innovation. This day is a tribute to their achievements and a call to action for a more inclusive future. He also highlighted the transformative impact of BBBP, reaffirming the districts commitment to empowering women.
