Sri Vijaya Puram, March 13: On the eve of Holi celebration, the Directorate of Art and Culture, A&N Administration, in collaboration with Bhojpuri Samaj of the Isles organized a ‘Faag’ programme at Andaman Club today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, as the chief guest inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp in the presence of Secretary (Vigilance), Shri Neeraj Bharthi, IAS, Secretary (Tourism), Ms Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Secretary (SVPMC), Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS.
In his address, the Chief Secretary, at the outset, greeted the people of A&N Islands on the occasion of Holi. The festival of colours nurtures the spirit of unity and brotherhood, the Chief Secretary said adding that Holi brings along happiness and enthusiasm and teaches us to spread love and positivity around us. The Chief Secretary appreciated the Art & Culture Department for organising the event as part of the festival which provides people an opportunity to participate and to be associated with our cultural heritage. ‘Faag’ is a traditional Bhojpuri folk performance reflecting the festive spirit and cultural heritage of India. The members of the Bhojpuri Samaj of the Isles presented Faag songs much to the delight of the audience present at the venue.
