Sri Vijaya Puram, March 13: The Triveni Gau Ashray-cum-Grazing Land at Bimblitan was inaugurated by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, in the presence of Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary (RD/Panchayat) & Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman and several other dignitaries.

The chief guest unveiled the plaque marking the official inauguration of the Triveni Gau Ashray-cum-Grazing Land. This dedicated area has been developed with the concerted efforts through MGNREGA and Engineering Wing of Rural Development Department and established for protection of stray or abandoned cattle aimed at providing a secure shelter and grazing environment, regular nutritious feed, clean drinking water and medical care for stray and abandoned cattle.

In his address, the Chief Secretary lauded the Gram Panchayat Sippighat for initiating this noble project being a community-driven effort to ensure animal welfare. The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of its proper upkeep and management and highlighted the challenges including prevention of stray cattle from causing road accidents and urban nuisance, lack of proper food and prevention from consumption of plastic wastes. The Chief Secretary has urged the public to discuss its maintenance in Gram Sabha meetings to ensure its sustainability. He further expressed hope that this project would serve as a model for other Panchayats. In an effort to promote environmental awareness, a plantation drive was conducted within the premises.
