Sri Vijaya Puram, March 18: The first phase of the three-day Master Trainers Program for the Chess-in-Schools (CiS) initiative commenced this morning at the auditorium of GSSS Mohanpura. The program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to integrate chess into the school curriculum, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities among students.

Shri Vikram Singh, Director (Education/Sports), A & N Administration, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the training session. In his address, he emphasized the significance of chess in developing cognitive skills, strategic thinking, and discipline among students. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening chess in schools through dedicated funding, infrastructure, and a merit-based selection of Master Trainers for quality training at school and zonal levels. He also highlighted chess’s role in fostering discipline and critical thinking while guiding young minds away from negative influences like drug addiction and harmful online content.

Around 30 Chess-in-School Nodal Persons from all nine Educational Zones across the islands are participating in the training with great enthusiasm. Expert trainers will lead sessions over the next three days, focusing on effective chess instruction techniques, including innovative methods to introduce chess to primary class students through interactive activities, creative demonstrations, and simplified mini games to make learning engaging and fun.
