The only agenda the opposition parties have for the 2024 elections is to bring down Modi! That’s all and no more!

This is not going to win elections, as people wonder what will happen if they do win. Will they be clueless? Will they sit complacently, once they have achieved their goal? What people want to see is what they are going to offer in return for their votes.

What plans for progress?

And in that sphere, there’s no doubt Modi is delivering.

While countries round us are going bankrupt India holds its own, however precariously!

What any opposition needs to show people is a picture of an India better than the present.

Many years ago, a lady came to me saying she was very depressed, she had a right to be, as both her parents had passed away more or less at the same time. But years had passed and she could not get out of the feeling of gloom. “My secretary is going to teach you computers!” I told her, “Come over to my office in the afternoon, every day at 4!”

“But I don’t even know how to switch one on!” she lamented.

“Good,” I told her, “Tomorrow, Theresa will teach you how to press the ON button!”

She came the next day, and her mind was in such a sad state she forgot within a few minutes where the button was. But my secretary patiently persisted and within a month the lady had come near to mastering the machine.

She started sending emails, and wandered into the wonderful world the internet offered. She started to smile, then laugh and suddenly found her gloom had lifted.

Many years later, she asked what I had done, when even psychiatrists had given up hope.

“I just helped you refocus!” I told her simply, “and your own mind became stronger and lifted you out of your own despair.”

It worked, and the same will work with the opposition if they have an agenda, other than one to pull the prime minister down. They need to have a plan which they can help people focus on!

And for the prime minister, a word of advice; you are going great guns, and there is really no need to include religion for votes. Be the leader of all the people. At the moment the opposition really have no plans for the progress of the country, and with your focus and sense of purpose on building a great India, you can be a leader of the nation, not just a party!

The elections will soon be here, and I hope my words will resonate with both the ruling party and the opposition, because for a healthy democracy, we need a ‘loved by all’ ruling party, and a refocused, purposeful opposition…!
