Port Blair, Nov. 12: Naval Ship Repair Yard, Port Blair, the largest Industrial Establishment of Andaman & Nicobar Command, Celebrates its anniversary on 12 Nov every year to mark its emergence as a Naval Ship Repair Yard From a modest Base Repair Organisation of the early 70s.

As a part of the 39th Anniversary of the Raising Day, the yard has planned various public – interface and environmental programmes. A team of NSRY personnel along with their families visited Government Old Age Home, Ferargunj on 3rd Nov. 2012 and shared the evening with the inmates who include elderly and differently abled children.

On landing at the Old Age Home, ‘Team NSRY’ organized themselves into small groups and interacted with each and every inmate of the Old Age Home. Few personnel from the NSRY Team came forward and entertained the inmates by singing songs and playing games with them. This motivated a few inmates also to join them in singing and the atmosphere become alive. All inmates were very touched by the spirit, enthusiasm and warmth of the visiting team. Few of the inmates expressed that such programmes be conducted more frequently.

During the interaction with the Yard families and inmates, the Commodore Superintendent of the Yard urged of his officers and staff and their families compassion and empathy towards the elders who have dedicated their lives to future generations.

The Commodore Superintendent conveyed his special thanks to Shri Shiva Pratap, IAS, Secretary (Social Welfare), Shri V Krishna Murty, Director (Social Welfare) and the staff of Govt Old Age Home, Ferrargunj for their cooperation in making the event successful.
