Port Blair, Oct. 19: The Out Reach Centre (ORC) of CARI with the support of NABARD has imparted Training on “Improved farm practices” from 12th to 13th October 2012, at Gandhinagar, a remote village in Diglipur. The farmers were informed about the activities undertaken by the ORC for improving the production in agriculture and allied fields in the mode of front line demonstration and training.  They were sensitized on the harvesting techniques of the crop for getting better yield.  

Field visit was conducted to the adopted farmers’ field wherein high yielding variety of paddy was demonstrated by the research staff of ORC.  Besides display of innovative products designed by the farmers,  which is put under use was the highlight of the programme. 

During the programme Shri. Vikash Mazumdar from Khudirampur village shared his experience and the benefit he derived after getting in touch with ORC and CARI.  On the concluding day, Shri. Pratip Mazumdar, Chairman village committee, Gandinagar thanked the efforts taken by  ORC in imparting the knowhow and do how which was arranged under the guidance of  Dr. S. K. Zamir Ahmed, Co-ordinator- ORC and the leadership of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CARI. Twenty two farmers participated in the training program of which 21 were male and 1 female.
