Port Blair, May 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray in a communication has said that in terms of the orders passed by the larger bench of the Hon’ble High Court of Kolkata, electricity is to be provided to a person who is in settled possession of the property. Such being the position, the Electricity Department shall not ask any further document for providing electric connection to the applicants. 

 

The SE, Electricity Department has accordingly issued directives to all Executive Engineers to comply with the orders of the Hon’ble High Court and provide electricity to all intending persons who have applied for electric connection after verification of the premises to see whether the said person is in settled possession of the same, but before providing connection, all other formalities including obtaining of the affidavit as prescribed earlier have to be followed.
