Port Blair, May 10: Under the plan scheme “Assistance to farmers under” high yielding programme” in Mechanized farming Govt. of India intends to encourage farmers purchase Tractor upto 35 PTO HP with matching implements. As per the scheme formulated by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and approved by the Govt of India, a cost subsidy of 25% or Rs. 1,00,000/- whichever is less for tractor with matching implements being provided alongwith 100% transport subsidy. The farmers will be eligible for bank loan towards the cost of tractor with three matching implements including one trailer. 
 
The individual Farmers/Cooperative societies are eligible for the benefits of the scheme provided they posses minimum 6 acres of agriculture land. The down payment of the margin money will be 15% of the cost to be contributed by the individual farmers/cooperative society. The selection committee will identify the farmers/cooperative societies for financial assistance. 
 
Similarly under the Plan programme/RKVY scheme, farmers are encouraged for purchase of Power tillers (8-15 HP) under
which cost subsidy @ 40% limited to Rs. 45,000/- whichever is less per Power Tiller/any Improved Farm Machineries will be provided against Govt. of lndia approved make & model. 
 
The farmers will have to receive the power tillers/machinery from Port Blair. The farmers and cooperative societies who would like to avail the benefits of the scheme irrespective of any land holding may contact and submit their prescribed application form at the nearest Agriculture Office before 31st July 2011.
