Car Nicobar, June 30: Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Central Agriculture Research Institute, Nicobar has imparted two three days training programme one each on “Scientific Cultivation of Tuber Crop” and “Scientific Pig Farming” from 25th to 28th June, 2011 at Small Lapathi and Kinmai village with an objective to impart knowledge and skill to the Nicobarese for socio-economic upliftment respectively. In the first programme Sri. Sett Zachariah, 2nd Headman, was the Chief Guest and Sri Othriel Andrew 3rd Headman, Small Lapathi village was the Guest of Honour. 
 
Different aspects of scientific cultivation of tuber crop to increase the production level as well as to minimize the production cost was dealt by the Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) during the training programme which was attended by 13 Nicobarese men and 7 women. 
 
The second programme on “Scientific Pig Farming” was conducted in the presence of Mr. Kindness, 1st Headman as the Chief Guest, Mr. Edwin, 2nd Headman as the Guest of Honour and Mr. Aubray James, 4th Headman, Mr. Reuben Clayton, Member and Mr. Samuel Clayton, Member as the guests. Mr. Kindness, 1st Headman appealed the trainees to get maximum benefit from the training programme. The scientific package of pig farming was dealt by the Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science). A total of 20 practicing farmers consisting of 12 Nicobarese men and 8 women participated.
