Port Blair, May 5: Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology & Natural History (SACON), Coimbatore in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, A&N Administration is organizing an in house vacation training programme (VTP) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sippighat. Students from 10 schools of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are selected from different DNA clubs established by SACON in the year 2007.
 
The inaugural function was held today in the hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sippighat in which Shri D.V. Negi, Principal Secretary (Sc. & Tech.), A&N Administration will grace the occasion as chief guest and Dr. R.C. Srivasthava, Director, CARI, Port Blair presided over. These programmes will promote the interest and knowledge about the natural resources and the environmental among the emerging generation and foster the concern to protect bio-resources and preserve the natural heritage.
 
SACON is the designated Regional Resource Agency for facilitating the implementation of activities of DNA clubs programme in A&N Islands. These DNA Clubs (DBT’s Natural Resource Awareness Clubs) programme seeks to integrate with the formal school curriculum and set a round the years activities aimed at giving young students with a comprehensive exposure and overview of fascinating world of bio resources.
