Car Nicobar, Nov. 3: The Chief Secretary Shri Anand Prakash IAS assured that the administration is committed to develop Sports Infrastructure in the Islands. Addressing the gathering at Bishop John Richardson Stadium today, he said that the youth of the Car Nicobar are very talented in Football, and adequate facilities will be provided to them. Shri Prakash said that there is a plan to develop football grounds in every village, under Panchayat Yuva Kreeda aur Khel Abhiyan - PYKKA. Appreciating the efforts of the organizers in conducting the Vice President Cup so professionally, he hoped that the tournament will produce some good young footballer, who will make the Islands feel proud at the National and International level.

Welcoming the Chief Guest the Vice Chairman of the Organising team and the Education Officer Shri H. Nathaniel informed that the total 17 teams from the different parts of the Islands are participating in this 19th edition of the Prestigious Vice President Cup Soccer Championship, and this time the fans are getting  the opportunity to see some good matches.

The members of the Youth group of Tamaloo village presented a melodious song, on this occasion. The Chief Secretary witnessed the last match of the day played between the teams of Andaman Nicobar Police and Wimberlygunj. Large number of spectators were present today to watch the crucial match of these two big teams.

The match was nicely poised in the beginning, but after 10 minutes of the play Wimberlygunj team started making attacks, but couldn’t convert them into goals. The first half concluded without any scores, and the Police team seemed under pressure. In the second half the Police team took the control of the ball, but the goalkeeper of the WG prevented them to score, displaying some superb skills of goalkeeping. The match ended in a draw.

Earlier in the first match of the day Car Nicobar-B defeated Little Andaman by 1-0 in a tight game. In the second match the teressa lost their match against Katchal by 0-1. The match between Air Force Carnic and Mayabunder was quite eventful. The IAF Carnic won the match by 5-0 comfortably.
