Port Blair, Nov. 2: Air Marshal PK Roy AVSM,VM,VSM took over as the 11th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN) today with a traditional `Tri-Service’ Guard of Honour on his arrival of Port Blair.
Air Marshal PK Roy AVSM, VM, VSM an alumni of the National Defence Academy was commissioned in the Indian Air Force on 11 Jul 1975.
His has held various prestigious Command and Staff appointments including the Command of a Helicopter unit, Station Commander of Air Force Station, Thoise, Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station New Delhi, Senior Officer in Charge Administration at HQ Eastern Air Command and as Assistant Chief of Air Staff at Air Headquarters. Before assuming the appointment as CINCAN, the Air Marshal was the Commandant of National Defence College, New Delhi. The Air Marshal has also had the distinction of serving as the Military and Air Attaché in the Indian Embassy at Ukraine with accreditation to Romania.
In recognition of his distinguished services of an exceptionally high order through a series of assignments he was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Sena Medal and the Vishisht Seva Medal.
