Port Blair, Feb 12: The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of Indira Gandhi National Open University Regional Centre, Port Blair Building will be held on Sunday 14th February-2021 at 10 am at IGNOU land near AIR Port Cargo Complex-Port Blair. The Foundation stone would be laid by the Hon’ble Minster of Education, Govt. of India Shri. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ in presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Satyakam, Dr.Jitendra Dev Gangwar, Finance Officer, Finance & Accounts Division, Dr. M. Shanmugam, Director, Regional Services Division, Er. Sudheer Reddy, Chief Project Officer, Construction and Maintenance Division and  Er. D.C. Goel, Chief Engineer, CPWD and other dignitaries.

Port Blair, Feb 12: It is informed to the general public that an unidentified dead body (Below waist line to knees) of a male in advance stage of decomposition was recovered on 05/02/2021, from the seashore of Burmanallah. The dead body was found in navy blue colour shorts. In this regard, a UD FIR vide No. 06/21 dated 05/02/21, U/s 174 Cr.PC has been registered at PS Pahargaon and is being investigated. The dead body of the deceased is preserved for identification.

Port Blair, Feb 11: An execution case being Money Execution Case No. 01 of 2019 has been registered before the Court of Hon’ble Additional District Judge, Mayabunder, arising out of Arbitration Case No. 01 of 2006 and solemn order dated 30th Nov. 2015 of Hon’ble High Court.

Privatization will Result in Injustice to the Existing Workers: MP

Port Blair, Feb 11: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has raised the issue of privatization of Electricity Department of Andaman & Nicobar Administration in Parliament on 09/02/2021 under Rule 377. He said that the privatization will result in injustice to 3000 engineers, staff and workers of the Electricity Department who have ensured uninterrupted power supply even in tough circumstances like corona pandemic and tsunami.
