Great Stride towards Achieving the Goal of Housing for All

Port Blair, Jan 11: In a significant step towards realising the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Housing for All by 2022’, the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Andaman & Nicobar Administration has been relentlessly implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojnana-Gramin across the Islands. The flagship scheme by the Government of India aims at providing a pucca house with basic amenities inclusive of a hygienic cooking space to the houseless and those living in kutcha houses.

Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency and US Consulate General Ms. Judith Ravin discussed mega PPP infra projects under aegis of Islands Development Agency in A&N Islands and potential investment opportunities through Video Conference. Outlined Expression of Interest (EoI) for Seaplane operations & slew of tourism/hospitality projects on No Cost No Commitment (NCNC) basis floated by A&N Administration.

Port Blair, Jan 11: The Pongal celebrations 2022 which was scheduled to be organized by the Andaman Tamizhar Sangam in its premises at Phoenix Bay, Port Blair on 14th January 2022 has been postponed due to the enforcement of COVID-19 SOPs by the District Administration. The programmes will be rescheduled later as and when the restrictions are relaxed by the Administration, a communication from the Secretary, Andaman Tamizhar Sangam said here.

Port Blair, Jan 11: The Sunni Students Federation, A&N Islands organized a literary Fest “Sahithyotsav-2022” on 07th & 08th of January 2022 at “Marhoom O. Khalid Square”, Markaz Fazle Haq Academy, Model Village, Kanyapuram, Wimberlygunj, with the motto of enriching the students community in particular and youths in general with ethical and moral values. Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N inaugurated the fest at the Chief Guest.

Port Blair, Jan 11: A seven days training on “Scientific Beekeeping” was organized by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair, sponsored by National Bee Board, Department of Agriculture Cooperation & farmers welfare, Govt. of India.  The programme started on 04th January 2022, benefitting twenty five farmers and farm women.
