Students to Appear in School Based Test Again
Port Blair, May 15: The Central Board of Secondary Education in a recently released notification vide No. CBSE/CE/2020 dated 13.05.2020 has issued a guidelines asking all the schools affiliated to it, to provide an opportunity to all the failed students of Class 9th and 11th to appear in a school-based test again, as a one-time measure in extraordinary situation. This opportunity will be extended to all such students irrespective of whether their examinations have been completed and the exam results have been released or their exams have not been completed.

Port Blair, May 15: This ‘Police Mitra’ is an initiative of the Andaman & Nicobar Police which was launched by worthy Director General of Police Shri. Depander Pathak, IPS, Director General of Police A&N Islands in November 2019. A total of 20 Police Mitras have been nominated in the 5 Police stations of Nicobar district. At Car Nicobar, the district headquarters , today i.e on 15.05.2020, the Superintendent of Police Shri. Rajeev Kumar distributed the Police Mitra I.D Cards and arm bands to the four Police Mitras. These Police Mitras will help police in not only Law & Order duties but also act as force multiplier in implementing lockdown and quarantine guidelines. The concept behind this initiative is that every common man is a policeman without uniform.

Passengers to Pay for the Travel/ Ship Ticket as Per Promulgated Rates
Port Blair, May 14: In the last few days, the Directorate of Shipping services carried out registration of stranded personnel who wish to be transported To and From A&N Islands. As of today, a total of 3846 personnel have registered to be transported out of Andaman Islands and 3125 no of personnel have registered to be transported from Mainland to A&N Islands.
Whilst sailing schedules from Andaman to Chennai and vice versa were tentatively planned on 06.05.2020, the A&N Administration had also taken up the matter seeking approval of competent authority for transportation of stranded personnel by Air. However, as approval of the competent authority for Air Travel is still awaited, the DSS has therefore now also proposed to transport passengers by ship.

President ANMF Calls Upon Secretary IP Division
Port Blair, May 15: The President, Andaman Nicobar Media Federation (ANMF), K Ganeshan today met the Secretary, IP&T in his chamber and discussed various genuine issues faced by the print and electric media in the Islands. The Deputy Director, IP and senior IP&T officials were also present. He apprised the Secretary, IP that print media in the islands has been facing huge financial difficulties due to non-release of government advertisements. With the lockdown coming to its last leg and opening of most of the sectors, including government offices, the IP departments should re-start release of government advertisements. He also raised the issue of release of payment of all outstanding pending advertisement bills in various government departments, increasing of subscription of local newspapers and appointment of PRO.

Port Blair, May 14: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter regarding continuation of ANISHI scheme upto 31st December, 2020 for cashless treatment upto Rs.5 lakhs for the Islanders.
Sharma in his letter to the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi stated that in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, only one Government Hospital namely GB Pant Hospital is available for treatment of general diseases and in case of serious diseases such as Cancer, Cardiac, Neuro, Brain Tumour, Accidentals cases etc. such patients are referred to Super Specialty Hospitals at Chennai and Kolkatta under a scheme introduced by the A&N Administration namely “Andaman & Nicobar Islands Scheme for Health Insurance (ANISHI) for cashless treatment upto Rs.5 lakhs (Five lakhs) per patient since 2015. Now the aforesaid scheme of ANISHI has been closed with effect from 31st March, 2020 on introduction of Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
