LG Apprises the Delegation About Tourism, Hospitality and Infrastructure Projects being Undertaken by the Administration

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: Today, on 08.10.2024, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice- Chairman, Islands Development Agency met Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands along with 09 other public representatives in Raj Niwas Conference Hall at Sri Vijaya Puram.

Shri H.G.S Dhaliwal, IPS, DGP, A&N Police, Smt. Dilraj Kaur, IAS, Chief Secretary (i/c), Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (South Andaman) and Smt. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP (South Andaman) were also present. Hon’ble MP raised key issues for the Islands including PRI funds, healthcare improvement, road repairs, port & shipping infrastructure, LNG project, water crisis, Plan Board meeting, Central University and local job creation.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) marked its 24th Raising Day on 08 Oct 24. Established in 2001 as an Integrated Command under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar (CINCAN), the ANC has continually exemplified synergy and cohesion among the Services while safeguarding national interests in the distant Andaman & Nicobar region.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: On 25/09/24 Mr. Timothy Lucas, a resident of Garacharma, reported at Cyber Crime Police Station regarding loss of his ATM card and withdrawal of ₹38,000 from his account. FIR No. 129/2024 was registered under relevant sections at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Cyber Crime team, comprising Inspector Sahil Shamsuddin, SI Devaraju, ASI V. Raja, HC/316 Bhupender Singh, PC/866 S.N. Rao, PC/2173 Atish, PC/765 Wilson Toppo and PC/1741 Dipty Lata Kujur immediately swung into action to trace the missing ATM card and suspects who withdrew the amount.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee organised a Trade Union Convention on “Solidarity With Samsung Workers of Chennai” at Port Blair today (08.10.2024) afternoon.   Inaugurating the Convention, K. Swaminathan, former Joint Secretary of All India Insurance Employees Association, who was on a visit to these islands, came down heavily on the Samsung Management for objecting to the registration of trade union in Samsung Company at Sriperumbadur, Chennai and not settling the wage hike and other benefits.  He said that about 1400 workers out of the total 1800 workers of Samsung Company at Sriperumbadur, Chennai were on strike from 9th September, 2024. He said that the Police in Chennai have been harassing the strike workers. He further said that the rulers in the country are fully supporting the multinational companies and corporates in the country to squeeze the workers and to amass more profits. He said that only the left parties and left trade unions in the country are fighting for the working class. 

Ferargunj, Oct. 8: The Ministry of Rural Development under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) has implemented the Model CLF Strategy across the Country to create ‘Proof of concept on promotion of member owned, member managed, member controlled and financially sustainable SHG Federations’ and develop Social Capital for replication of the strategy in the remaining Blocks. To achieve this goal, the Mission envisages establishing at least one CMTC per District managed by one of the Model CLFs in the District, so that it would cater to the Capacity Building needs of all the CLFs in the District.
