Sanjay Singh, State Vice President, BJP-A & N Islands & Shri. M.Vinod, State Vice President, BJP-A & N Islands.

Port Blair, May 12: The Education Directorate has directed all the Zonal Officers, Principals (non-vacational staff) as well as Vice Principals/ Headmaster (SS) (vacational staff to remain present at their respective places of postings during the summer vacation 2020 from 18/05/2020 to 16/07/2020 for undertaking the Digital Education programme, mid-day meal related works, distribution of educational materials, conducting the remaining board examinations of class XII and COVID-19 related duties in a smooth way.

Port Blair, May 11: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has informed the Secretary (Shipping), A&N Administration that the summer vacation for all the schools across the A&N Islands would be commenced with effect from 18th May, 2020 for two months as declared by the education department. Teachers from the different Islanders including Southern Group of Islands would come to Port Blair, South Andaman and other places in North & Middle Andaman for which special sailing programme of ships/boats for the teachers from Southern Group of Islands need to be arranged for their journey since the lockdown for COVID-19 is also likely to be lifted in these Islands from 18th May, 2020. The MP therefore requested that the sailing programme of ships/boats for transportation of teachers from Southern Group of Islands and vice versa may be arranged soon after 18th May, 2020 so that they may come to Port Blair.

Port Blair, May 12: The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs is committed to zero tolerance towards any unfair trade practices to curb the menace of exploitation of consumers amidst this tough period of Lockdown due to COVID-19. The Department is relentlessly enforcing various provisions of the Rules & Regulations framed under the Essential Commodities Act 1955, the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and various Notifications to this effect framed by the Government of India throughout this UT on daily basis. This exercise resulted in nabbing those persons/shops/establishments involved in any form of unfair trade practices and the violators were booked under relevant sections of the Act. Penal actions as per laid down procedures are taken in a time bound manner to act as a deterrent and so far an amount of Rs. 2,43,000/- has been imposed on them as penalty during the Lockdown period in South Andaman.
