Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 23: A delegation of prominent tourism stakeholders from the Andaman Islands, led by Shri Mohammed Jadwet, Chapter Chairman of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) for the Andaman Region, and Shri M. Vinod, President of the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO), along with other representatives and participants are representing the region at ITB Asia 2024 through the Pavilion of Ministry of Tourism.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 23: The Electricity Department has developed a POL (Petroleum, Oil & Lubricant) monitoring software to ensure efficient and transparent management of fuel by respective power houses of the Department in entire A&N Islands. The software was developed by SOVTECH to track the consumption, storage and distribution of POL products with specific fuel consumption analysis DG wise & Station wise to enhance accountability on real time basis to improve efficiency and reduce pilferage. Third party audit of the software has been done for ensuring entries and flawless implementation. The POL entries by all Stations in the software are being monitored by senior officers also. The concerned Junior Engineers/ Assistant Engineers were sensitized through various training programme for real time updation of POL status of their respective power houses in the software.

Diglipur, Oct. 23: A case of burglary involving gold ornaments valued at Rs. 2.5 lakhs was reported at PS Diglipur on 21/10/2024. The case was promptly resolved through the efforts of the PS Diglipur team, resulting in the arrest of two accused persons and the recovery of the stolen property within 24 hours.

Reportedly, on 21/10/2024, a burglary case involving gold ornaments valued at Rs. 2.5 lakhs was received at PS Diglipur by Smti Dipika Mistry, W/o Shri Mithun Kar (26 yrs), R/o RK Gram, near VKZPV School, Diglipur. Based on her complaint, a case under relevant section of BNS 2023 was registered and a dedicated team led by Inspr. Vijay Kumar, SHO PS Diglipur and consisting of HC Sanjit Madhu, PCs Bijoy Sarkar, Susen Das, Yasir Arafath, Suresh & Soma Dey was constituted.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 23: In a significant achievement for the chess fraternity of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, eleven chess enthusiasts have successfully qualified for the Senior National Arbiter (SNA) title after participating in the Senior National Arbiter Seminar and Examination, held from October 12-13, 2024, in Port Blair. The seminar was organized by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and the AICF Arbiters’ Commission.
