Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: To commemorate the 6th anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the 3rd anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Ayushman Pakhwada was observed from 20th to 30th September, 2024. During this period, the State Health Agency (Implementing agency of AB-PMJAY), A & N Islands organized a series of activities aimed at raising public awareness about the scheme.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: The Department of Home Science, JNRM in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N Administration celebrated Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024- Kuposhan Mukt Bharat, Ek Pahal. The students of Deptt. of Home Science performed a Nukkad Natak on the theme Junk Food & Importance of Nutrition for pregnant and lactating mothers in Schools and Gram Panchayat Mithakhari. Students of TGCE, ANCOL, JNRM and Anganwadi workers participated in various competitions.

Mayabunder, Sept. 29: The District Child Protection Unit in collaboration with the Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), North and Middle Andaman conducted a significant Rescue and Rehabilitation Drive targeting child labour in commercial premises across the region under the able guidance of Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, District Magistrate, N & M Andaman.

A dedicated team led by Shri Ashish Joon, Assistant Commissioner (HQ) from the District Commissioner’s Office visited all commercial establishments within Mayabunder Tehsil. The operation saw active participation from Special Juvenile Police Officers (SJPOs) from the respective Police Stations in N&M Andaman District, ensuring comprehensive coverage and support.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 29: In the 47th Departmental Project Approval Committee (DPAC) meeting for Khelo India Scheme held on 20.09.24 under the chairmanship of Smt. Sujata Chaturvedi, IAS, Secretary (Sports), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, two New Khelo India Centres (KICs) under the flagship Khelo India Scheme has been approved for the UT of Andaman &Nicobar Islands.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 29: Only over one week, two major cancer surgeries have been performed in two senior citizens using laparoscope ensuring minimal access by Surgery Department of GB Pant Hospital, ANIIMS. The first case was of a 67-year-old lady, who was presented with recurrent pain in abdomen and vomiting. She was diagnosed with a condition wherein one part of the intestine slides into the adjacent part of the intestine. Further, her condition was assessed using State of Art diagnostic procedure at GB Pant Hospital itself, which revealed a large tumor growth in large intestine. On 16th September, a team of Super Specialist Surgeons, headed by Dr. Saji Vargheese performed an advanced surgery using a laparoscope to remove the tumour ensuring minimum surgical incision.
