Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) successfully conducted Under-07 Chess Championship 2025 cum Selection Trial for the 38th National Under-07 Chess Championship 2025 at the ANCA Chess Centre, Dairy Farm on 06.04.2025 (Yesterday).
Around 30 young chess players enthusiastically participated in the Under-07 Chess Selection Championship. Based on their performance and the final standings, the following players have been selected to represent the Andaman & Nicobar Islands at the 38th National Under-07 Chess Championships 2024, which will be held in Odisha, in the month of June 2025.

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: Adventures of Amu, Shelly and Oli - a story book for children on the marine life in coral reef Ecosystems was launched today at the ITF Grounds during the book fair.
The book has been written by Samhita Veda Acharya and the illustrations have been done by N. Akash. The book was launched by Shri. Mohammed Hussain (diver and nature enthusiast), Shri. Promotho Mazumder (sculptor), Master Aarav Narayan and Mrs. Kanak Radha Chatterjee.

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: In a significant development for the labour movement in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. TSG Bhasker, National Vice-President of INTUC Federation and Chairman of Campaign Committee- ANTCC has been unanimously elected as the President of the Forest Labour Union affiliated to INTUC replacing Past President Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma.
The announcement was made during the Union’s General Body Meeting held on April 5, 2025, at 4 PM at the Forest Labour Club, Haddo, Ward No. 1.

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi, a local organization dedicated to community welfare, has successfully organized a comprehensive Awareness Programme focused on Mental Health, Drug Abuse, and Child Safety. The event was specially designed for Nodal Teachers of the School Health Programme (SHP) and Health and Wellness Ambassadors (HWAs) from the South Andaman region.

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 7: Students of M.Sc. II and IV Semester from the Department of Botany, JNRM, organized a special outreach program on 4th April at Govt. Middle School, Sippighat, under the Village Adoption Program initiative.
Guided by faculty members Mrs. Rashmi Janak and Ms. Shalini, the event featured various creative and educational activities. Students of the school enthusiastically participated in drawing and painting contests, quiz competitions for both junior and senior levels and witnessed a live demonstration on wonders of the microscopic world.
