Port Blair, Oct. 8: The valedictory function of the 68th Wildlife Week celebrations-2022 by the Department of Environment & Forests, A&N Administration was held at the TGCE Auditorium here today. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS was the chief guest on the occasion. The Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha, South Andaman, Smt. Pramila Kumari, the DGP A&N Islands, Shri Neeraj Thakur, IPS, the Commissioner-cum- Secretary, Ms. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, the Chairperson, PBMC, Smt. Kavitha Udhay Kumar and senior Officers of A&N Administration were present on the occasion.

Port Blair, Oct. 8: The South Andaman District Administration organized Revenue Camp Court with the theme 'Prashasan Aapke Dwaar' at Sippighat Gram Panchayat today. Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Secretary (RD) & DC (SA) chaired the event along with Shri Dilkhush Meena, SDM (SA), Shri Piyush Vijaykaran Singh, AC (S) and Shri Ramesh Kumar, Tehsildar Port Blair, Block Development Officer, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Sippighat, Zila Parishad Memeber and Panchayat Samiti Member.

Port Blair, Oct. 9: On 06/10/2022, a person namely Baburaj (55yrs) old had committed suicide by hanging at Brichgunj Brookshabad. In this regard, an UDFIR No. 49/2022 dtd 06/10/2022, U/s 174 CrPC has been registered at PS Pahargaon and the case is being investigated. During the course of investigation, neither any details of deceased person is revealed out nor any family members are traced out. The dead body of the old age person is preserved for identification and claim in the cold Mortuary room of GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair. Description of the deceased body is as follows:

Port Blair, Oct. 8: Continuing its zero tolerance policy towards encroachment on Government land, the Revenue Department of South Andaman District carried out eviction drive committed over Government land at Port Blair Tehsil. On Oct. 6, 2022, an encroachment eviction drive was carried out and an area measuring 100 Sqmtrs. approximately in the shape of tin shed at roadside of Corbyn’s Cove village has been removed and the land has been restored to Government Khata.

Port Blair, Oct. 9: Due to insufficient booking of passenger tickets, the vessel MV Swaraj Dweep which was scheduled to sail for Chennai on Oct.11, 2022 and her return voyage from Chennai to Port Blair on Oct.18, 2022 has been cancelled.
