Port Blair, July 22: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 2, 68,200 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2, 81, 603 (approx.). A total of 5513 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands. A total of 73,954 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.

Port Blair, July 22: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A & N Islands has taken up the issue of  appointment of Drivers of Transport Department who are working in the department without break on Contract or daily rated basis since 2005 with the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A & N Islands. They have served the department continuously with the hope that one day their case would be considered for regularization but no fruitful decision from the department. Ultimately they have approached before the Hon’ble Court for redressal of their grievances and the Court issued directions to the Administration to appoint them on regular basis by taking necessary steps to get the standards relaxed. Now most of them are underprivileged due to over age and lack of educational qualification.

Port Blair, July 22: In view of “Guru Purnima” falling on 24th July 2021 and also keeping in view the prevailing COVID restrictions, the District Magistrate, South Andaman has permitted the temples in South Andaman District to open to offer prayers from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM, with strict adherence to the National Directives for COVID-19 Management are fully complied in letter and spirit.

Port Blair, July 22: The newly formed NGO, Hindu Rashtra Shakti registered with Darpan (NITI aayog, Govt. of India) bearing number UP/2021/0285527 started functioning in the month of February 2021 in A & N Islands with the leadership of Shri Amar Kumar Singh, National Secretary, Shri Rakeshwar Lall, State President, Shri Angshuman Roy, State General Secretary (Youth), Dr P K Mandal, State General Secretary (North & Middle Andaman) and Smti Miniti Biswas, State President Mahila wing among others.
