Port Blair, July 10: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) under the distinguished leadership of President M. Vinod and Sumit Mallick made a significant mark at the 67th Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) convention held in Colombo from July 6 to July 8. The convention, attended by prominent industry professionals from India and Sri Lanka proved to be a hub of networking, knowledge exchange and partnership building.

Port Blair, July 10: CPI (M) has demanded to restore the water supply at Port Blair town and rural South Andaman areas to the pre-curtailment period when water was supplied on alternate days.  In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee stated that the water supply to the Port Blair town and rural South Andaman areas was curtailed in the month of April - May, 2023 with the dip in the water level at Dhanikhari Dam during the summer season.  With the arrival of the south-west monsoon, the water level in the Dhanikhari Dam has risen considerably, touching 59 metres on 10th July, 2023. 

Car Nicobar, July 10: Disaster Management Trainings were organized by the Directorate of Disaster Management in coordination with District Administration, Nicobar, Indian Coast Guard (A&N) and 04 Bn, National Disaster Response Force from June 26 to July 8, 2023. The trainings organized for Community Volunteers (Aapda Mitras) of Car Nicobar and Nancowry Islands under Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme concluded on July 8 in the Community Hall of Perka, Car Nicobar and Emergency Operation Centre, Kamorta respectively.

Port Blair, July 10: Shri Vishal Jolly National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI requested to depute Gynecologist & Technician for operating Ultrasound machine at Little Andaman through a letter addressed to Chief Secretary A & N Administration, Secretary (Health) & Director (Health).

In his letter Shri Jolly wrote that the population of Little Andaman Island is around 30,000 and it has only two Primary Health Centre, i.e. one at R. K. Pur and another at Hut Bay. These two PHCs have two Doctors each and merely primary health care facilities are provided therein. Although the PHC Hut Bay has been provided with one Ultrasound machine, but there is no technician to use/utilize the same, due to which the said machine is presently useless, he added.

Port Blair, July 10: The last date for submission of claims and objections for admission to Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) viz. B.Sc.B.Ed. (Mathematics and Computer Science), B.A.B.Ed.(English, Hindi and History) for the academic session 2023-24 in Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair has been extended up to 13th July, 2023 and the final merit list will be published on 17th July 2023.
