Wandoor, April 8: The Andaman and Nicobar Environment Team (ANET)/Dakshin Foundation organised its Open Day at the ANET field station in North Wandoor on Sunday, 6 April 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

ANET is a multidisciplinary research hub and an environmental intervention and education centre in the Andaman Islands. It aims to address issues of contemporary significance to the islands and to develop effective conservation strategies based on a sound understanding of the islands’ diverse social-ecological systems. Established in 1993, the idea of the ANET field station was born out of a series of pioneering wildlife surveys and expeditions in the 1970s, led by Romulus Whitaker and colleagues from the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust (MCBT). Over the years, along with its own independent activities, ANET has carried out independent research and facilitated collaborative partnerships with several government and civil society organisations. ANET is now owned and operated by Dakshin Foundation, a long-term institutional partner of MCBT, and aims to continue its unique legacy.
