Port Blair, Aug 28: Acting on credible information, the Swaraj Dweep Police conducted a raid, resulting in the seizure of illicit Ganja and arrest of one individual.
A Police team led by Inspector K. Abdul Nasir, SHO PS Swaraj Dweep along with Police team SI Rakesh Singh, PCs Vikash Kumar Pandey, Prashant Deep Dung Dung, Suraj Kumar, Mohammed. Sharif, Mohammed Asif, Abdul Basheer and PC (D) P. Jagan conducted raid in a PG’s room of Coral Reef Hotel and recovered 66 Grams Illicit Ganja and a handmade Chillam from the possession of Amit Kumar Mahato S/o Shri. Sushanto Mahato (24) yrs Bartender in Coral Reef Hotel R/o staying in PG’s House of Coral Reef Hotel, Permanent residence of 16 A Thana RIT, Parbatipur, Adityapur, Saraikela, Kharsawan, Jharkhand. The recovered Ganja was seized on the spot and the accused was arrested and brought to PS Swaraj Dweep after observing all codal formalities.

Port Blair, Aug 28: The District Administration, South Andaman has intensified its efforts to address the issue of encroachments through continuous eviction drives across the District. This initiative aims to remove unauthorized structures and restore Government lands and public spaces from encroachments by unscrupulous elements.
In Port Blair Tehsil, fresh encroachment in the shape of locked unidentified structure was dismantled in the village of Aberdeen and an area of 0.02 hects has been restored to government khaata by the revenue field staff.

1) The height of the idol should be maintained below 16 feet, in order to prevent any untoward incident due to overhead HT lines along the route of immersion of idols. This instruction should be followed very strictly by all organizing committees.
2) The Puja Organizers shall use only natural colors on idols and avoid hazardous chemicals since the immersion of idols made from non-biodegradable or toxic materials has environmental repercussions.

Port Blair, Aug. 28: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands will be holding National Lok Adalat in the District Court Complex at Port Blair and Sub-Divisional Court Complex at Mayabunder and Circuit Court at Diglipur on Sept. 14. Besides the compoundable nature of cases pending in different Courts, disputes at the pre-litigation stage will also be entertained by the National Lok Adalat for disposal upon consensual settlement between the parties. Pre-litigation disputes include (i) NI Act cases u/s 138, (ii) Money recovery cases, (iii) Labour dispute cases, (iv) Electricity and water bills cases (excluding non-compoundable), (v) Maintenance cases (vi) Civil disputes and (vii)Disputes under the Consumer Protection Act.
