Port Blair, April 10: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Smti. Kavitha Udhaya Kumar along with Shri. Azizur Rahman, Sr. Vice Chairperson, and a team of Officials headed by Smti. S Asha (Executive Engineer (WW) visited various areas in the municipal limits. At first the team visited the Girl’s hostel compound of JNRM College. The team interacted with inmates, wherein issue of water supply were discussed. The Civic Chief directed the officials to short out the issue at the earliest.

Port Blair, April 10: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 234 incoming flight passengers yesterday, no positive case has been detected. Today, 18 flights with 3046 passengers arrived, out of which, 2714 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 251 passengers and the reports are awaited. During RAT conducted on 36 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 32 passengers and no positive case has been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 7 passengers were tested with RAT, no positive case has been detected.

Port Blair, April 8: The District Magistrate, South Andaman, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS through an Order No. 313 issued today (08.04.2022) has withdrawn the order enforcing fines for violation of lockdown guidelines. The decision for withdrawing fines was taken as per the directions of the MHA.
Over the last 24 months, significant capacities have been developed for various aspects of management of the pandemic, such as diagnostics, surveillance, contact tracing, treatment and vaccination, hospital infrastructure and the general public has much higher level of awareness on the COVID appropriate behaviour.

Port Blair, April 10: A series of earthquakes of medium intensity are being experienced in the Nicobar group of islands since early morning today. The first jolt of 5.2 on the Richter’s Scale was reported at 0718 Hrs followed by 4.7 at 10.25 Hrs, 4.5 at 1615 Hrs, 5.0 at 1628 Hrs, 5.1 at 1912 Hrs and 5.0 at 1958 Hrs. Though the tremours were felt at Campbell Bay in the Great Nicobar Island, no damages to life and property was reported. Source: SEOC

Port Blair, April 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to provide age relaxation for islanders in all government jobs by three years.
In his letter to the Lt. Governor, the MP mentioned that due to Covid-19 pandemic, the entire world came to a standstill for several months and for nearly two years many crucial government works like recruitment to various posts in Andaman & Nicobar Islands could not be conducted.
